Winston and Alberta…Ho! Ho! Ho! And a Bottle of Wine!

Remember when we used to hear the weatherman talk about the Alberta Clipper? I never understood exactly what that meant but I did admire the name Alberta. That winter I was in the Blue Ridge mountains caring for my little granddaughter. It happened to be a winter with exceptional amounts of snow. One day we were outside, and the snow was perfect to make a snowman! My little granddaughter said no to making a snowman…she wanted a snow lady! So, we gave our snow lady some distinguishing body parts and decorated her with leaves and twigs. 

When I returned to my studio sometime later the snow was still falling outside. I remembered our snow lady and decided to paint her. Again, I heard about the Alberta Clipper and decided that should be her name. She looked lonesome so I painted her suiter, Winston. Naturally he needed to have body parts too. The back story is, they were to have a dinner date and she was serving frozen fish (note the fish around the border of the painting) and Winston was bringing wine. The romance only lasted until Spring when the snow melted.
