Gemstone Fountain…
I was spending some time looking at sculptures made from concrete on the internet. I happened to know the artist. We spent some time together in several life drawing sessions. She uses the figure in many of her very large sculptures. The use of concrete to form the pieces was very interesting to me. It made me think of the many abstract pieces that I painted some time ago. The paper used in these paintings is that very textured Indian Village paper from India. I applied the watercolor paint in a very layered manner using many colors that are not transparent. Or if the paint color was transparent, I added some acrylic white paint or a color like cerulean blue. The colors in these paintings are very muted and the whole series reminds me of concrete or rock. There is a small amount of color in some areas and thus the name Gemstone Fountain came to my mind.
